Peyton Likes FAST

We headed up to Tampa for a trial yesterday and Peyton got his 2nd Open FAST leg with 1st place. He thinks any class where he can play by *his* rules and still manage to qualify is pretty awesome. I probably will not enter FAST very often once were done with Open, but for now it's nice to qualify in something!

Had a decent standard run in the morning where we managed a very brief (don't blink or you'll miss it) sign of a start-line stay. I've been working on some different routines in class that seem to keep him happy so I'm hopeful that one of these days, we'll have some success in a trial. I think an early slip caused a bar followed by an off-course, but the rest of the run was really pretty good and I loved the ending. It's fun to push my distance luck in the weaves when we're not worried about qualifying...which is quite often!

We're still in Open He...Jumpers. This time it was a case of a wound up spotty and a late handler. We saw lots of arms flying all over the place from the judge and I'm starting to wonder if Peyton has figured out that he has the ability to make them throw their hands in the air. Maybe he thinks it's fun? :)

I'm really happy with how he's been running lately and I think he's starting to calm down enough that he's able to think and run at the same time. Not sure I can say the same for me, but maybe one of these days!

Really enjoyed the video. Peyton clearly has a lot of fun doing this.

OMG - run and think at the same time???? LOL He is looking good! And what a great Aframe contact! I can't believe you are running in short sleeves and I have 20 inches of new snow on the ground!

Yikes! I would love to see what Peyton and Indy would do in all that snow. Maybe I can ship them to you and you can tape them? Because I don't want anything to do with that white stuff. :)

I probably shouldn't mention that at 60 degrees, I turn on the seat warmers in my car...

Peyton is very smart, & I think you're right, he likes to see the judge "dance" with her arms in the air.

That was great. You're right I think his brain is finally in the game. I guess he just needed some experience. :)
