Broken Contacts

Had a good time at the trial on Saturday...it was a double NQ day, but we had some nice moments. For the most part, once we got past the openings, the rest of our runs were pretty good.

However, I think our contacts might be officially broken in trials...not a big surprise since they've been inconsistent for a while now. While he's never missed a contact (knock on wood), on Saturday we had a running dog walk, teeter *and* a-frame. Oops.

In all fairness, our lack of a consistent 2 on/2 off in trials is entirely my doing. And to be honest, I'm not sure that I would have changed much even though I knew that we would be at this point sooner or later. While Peyton has pretty darn good contacts in practice, I've made quite a few adjustments in trials, so I can't really blame him for not holding his contacts...or in some cases even stopping. :)

I'm not all that concerned...just one more thing to add to our "need to work on" list. It's really not long enough. Ahem.

Besides, Peyton thinks the 1RTBI (one rear toenail barely in) method of contact training is the way to go...

Seriously, how fun is this face?

His enthusiasm is contagious. :)

Longer legs would be helpful. Referring to *me*, of course.

How can you *not* love him?

He is so adorable! I love the pictures!

Good luck with the contacts. I know nothing about them so can't offer advice. :)

Indeed, how can you not love him?!! He's everything a Dal should be, silly, enthusiastic, sensitive. What a fun, fun dog.

Thanks for the photos. I have heard of the 1RTBI theory of contacts, but I had never seen it in a photograph :) Obviously, Peyton has mastered the skill!

All kidding aside, Kim, you have a truly wonderful Dal in Peyton (and Indy and Derby). Imagine how empty life would be without a silly boy like Peyton!

Ah yes .... I do remember some long ago trailing days with Keegan who perfected the one toe nail in the yellow on the ups and downs of the contact equipment. :-) I could also stand to be a few inches taller! And of course everyone needs a Peyton!!!!
