TGI(almost)F!

It's been a busy week here at the House of Spots! We're really looking forward to the weekend, especially Indy - more time for sunbathing!

Contact Work

Even though Peyton is enjoying a little break from agility class over the summer, we still play in the backyard a few times a week. His contacts are usually pretty good, but I still have to babysit them a little so tonight we worked on some recalls over the dogwalk and teeter. In his defense, my dogwalk isn't regulation so we don't practice on it at home too much. He was a little wild tonight, but was sure trying. :)

The good thing about bringing out the video camera when training is not only can you review your dog's performance, but more importantly you can see what you're doing wrong. And here I noticed the timing of my cues was pretty darn lousy - bad handler!

Oak Park School Demo

Today we participated in SOTC's annual agility and obedience demo for the special needs kids' camp at Oak Park School. It was a lot of fun, and all of our doggies and handlers did an awesome job!

Demo - Meet & Greet

After our demo, the kids had the opportunity to meet and interact with our therapy dogs in the group. They really seemed to enjoy themselves, and of course all of the dogs loved the attention. They were all awesome - kids and dogs alike! We really do have a great group of dogs (and handlers!) at SOTC...

On a personal note, I just have to give kudos to all of you who volunteer your time and do therapy work in our community. One of these days, hopefully I'll have a spotty that would enjoy it. In the meantime, I'll just have to convince Indy that just because she needs therapy, doesn't quite make her a therapy dog. :)

Relaxation Interrupted

Nothing like relaxing on the cool tile, with the sun shining through the glass...and then along comes the little spotted monster. :)

Couch Potato

Ever since Peyton was a puppy, his favorite place to nap has been on the back of our couches. I'm not sure if he just likes the view up there, or if it's just really comfy, but that's his usual spot.

Now Pongo, on the other hand, has never been one to lay across the back of the couch, that is until recently. Apparently he's either decided that Peyton has the right idea, or he's trying to lay claim to all parts of the couch. In any case, he was looking super cute today so I had to take a quick picture.

It would be even cuter without all the white hair all over...but now you can see why I keep my couches covered. If you don't like little white hairs all over everything, then Dals are definitely not the breed for you. :)

The Original Spotty

I realized today that I don't have very many pictures of Pongo up...and it's certainly not because he isn't super special...it's just that Indy & Peyton tend to be the camera hogs of the family.

So I decided today would be Pongo's day, although it wasn't long before I was reminded why I don't have as many recent Pongo pictures.

It's because I get a whole lot of this:

You see, Pongo is a little hard of hearing in his not-so-young age. So it's a little hard to get his attention unless I have food. Which is fine, but then I get this:

And I guess that's okay when it's followed by a tongue shot...

And occasionally I'm lucky enough to get some halfway decent photos of my original spotty dog. I guess he's decided that he's had enough pictures taken in his 14 years that he really doesn't need any more. And I'm sure if I was his age, I probably would feel the same. :)
